Last night I attended the American Ballet Theatre, who opened their season at the Lincoln Centre. Celebrating their 75th anniversary dancers and choreographers from around the world came together to show the incredible range that ballet theatre had to offer. There was romance, drama, comedy and horror from Michel Fokine, George Balanchine, Agnes de Mille, Antony Tudor and Jerome Robbins.
The first Act finished on an audience high with a performance from Swan Lake with Misty Copeland but Act II raised the barre with each dancer seeming to outdo the last. The sensational twirls and jumps made the ballet dancers seem like they were floating and not of this world. The perfect thing to do on a Monday night.
